Dr. Chao-Sun Chang, 張肇松, or Uncle Chao-Sung as I've always call him, is a beloved family friend whose infectious joy and love for others have been to me a source of inspiration and comfort and a testament to his Christian faith.

 

Apart from being a leading physician and scientist in the area of Oncology and Hematology, Uncle Chao-Sung is also a man of multiple gifts, one of them being poetry. Back in 2020 I asked if he might have something I could set to music and was delighted when he shared with me a beautiful collection of verse focusing on the attributes of Christ. some of which I set to a choral trilogy, 祂是光, He is Light, for SATB choir. This would be my first piece written in my mother tongue, Taiwanese (tâi-gí)!
